Is your self-perception limiting you?

I’m sure we all realize that personal transformation is a continuous process. There is no end destination. Once we make one change, then we find something else and then something more.
In my personal journey and being witness to others, I have come to believe that a key factor in our transformation is self-perception.

From observation, we start by looking externally to make our changes. How do I create more time to do the things I want to do? What goal needs to be achieved to earn that promotion? How can I improve my financial situation? Ultimately, if we REALLY want to go to the depths of these questions, if we REALLY want to make the changes to cause effect in our lives, this becomes an internal process.

What would I really want to spend my time doing? Who do I need to be in order to earn that promotion? What is my relationship to money and what needs to be different to improve my financial situation? Answering these questions lead to introspection and insights into yourself and what I find opens up, is how we perceive ourselves. Answering them honestly, will lead you to see where you may perceive yourself as lacking or fearful, in self-doubt or possibly just not good enough.

Have you been buying into age-old beliefs? What perception do you have of yourself that may be causing limitations in what you actually want to achieve?

The truth is, our reality is created by our perceptions which we live into and contexts that we set for ourselves. The way we perceive ourselves is very different to the way others see us. Our perception is just that, OUR perception and it can always be changed. Our internal judge knocks us around and we hinder ourselves – why not believe in yourself, wholeheartedly? What is stopping you from doing that?

Does lack of commitment affect you?

Reflecting back on numerous coaching interactions lately, a common thread I am finding, is that many people either have a fear of committing because they will then have to follow through or because they know they won’t follow through.

It seems that being accountable to others, is far easier than being accountable to ourselves. Which is more important? What is it that we need, to truly be accountable to ourselves and what is it about commitment that we fear so much?

I guess for myself, from past experience, it would be more the fear of failing once I have committed to something. What I have found throughout my training, personal development and coaching sessions is, that when we follow through on our commitments, however small they may be, we start putting ourselves into the flow of life. Things start to work for us. Generally, stretching ourselves 20% out of our comfort zone allows for a more probable achievement of the commitment set and slowly we keep stretching and thus we keep growing.

Life is a journey of self-commitment. We are the Creators of our experiences and if we are the Creator of ‘non-commitment’ our experiences will be exactly that. Life will reflect non-commitment back to us.

Ultimately, what do you WANT? What is it going to take for you to commit, 100%, to that which you want? Are you prepared to take responsibility for being the Creator of your experiences?


A New Me

In the infinity of life where I am, all is perfect, whole and complete. My life is ever new. Each moment of my life is new and fresh and vital. I use my affirmative thinking to create exactly what I want. This is a new day. I am a new me. I think differently. I speak differently. I act differently. Others treat me differently. My new world is a reflection of my new thinking. It is a joy and a delight to plant new seeds, for I know these seeds will become my new experiences. All is well in my world.

Change is Inevitable
